Venue and date

The 4th European Low Vision Conference Eurosight2000 will be held from 3-6 September 2000 in the Golden Tulip Conference Hotel Koningshof in Veldhoven, the Netherlands.

The Koningshof is a combination of a conference centre and a hotel with a diversity of sport facilities.

Participants wil be booked in a limited number of hotelrooms. If the rooms in Koningshof are fully booked, then you will be booked in Golden Tulip Hotel Geldrop.

The Koningshof is surrounded by 35 hectacres of woods, so you can easily enjoy a walking trip during a break. Veldhoven is a small town nearby Eindhoven. Eindhoven is a city with approx. 200.000 inhabitants in the province of North Brabant in the south of the Netherlands. The city has its own technical university and is the home base of multinational Philips.

Language

The official language of the conference is English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.

Weather and clothing

The average daytime temperature in the Netherlands in September can vary between the 15° C and 20° C. It can be sunny, but also showery. We recommend you to bring a sweater, a raincoat and an umbrella.

How to get there

Golden Tulip Conference Hotel Koningshof can be reached by public transport or car. From Schiphol Airport or Maastricht-Aachen Airport it is convenient to use the train to Eindhoven Central Station.

From a limited number of European cities it is also possible to fly to Eindhoven Airport, which is situated 10 minutes from Koningshof by taxi or car (ask your travel agency for more details).

By train/bus

The nearest train station is Eindhoven Central Station. At the north side of the platforms you will find the bus station. You can take the BBA-busservice (line no. 149 or 150) and you will arrive at Koningshof in 20-30 minutes. It is also possible to travel to Koningshof by train taxi (special taxi) in 20 minutes. In that case you will have to buy a train taxi ticket in combination with your train ticket at the office window. You can find the taxis at the south side of the platforms. If you have a train taxi ticket, you have to go to the special sign "treintaxi".

By car

From Belgium:

- From the direction Antwerp/Turnhout: follow the A67/E34 direction Eindhoven, take exit "Eersel" (A67 exit no. 32) and keep driving in the direction of Steensel. Approximately 2,5 km from Steensel you will find Koningshof at your right-hand side.

From other directions:

  • From Mid, North and East of Holland, through ‘s Hertogenbosch (= Den Bosch):

follow the A2/E25 direction Eindhoven and keep driving in the direction of

Maastricht/Venlo A2/E25, till the exit "Veldhoven Zuid" (A2 exit no. 32).

  • From West of Holland, through Breda/Tilburg:

follow the A58/E312 direction Eindhoven and keep driving in the direction of

Maastricht/Venlo A2/E25, till the exit "Veldhoven Zuid" (A2 exit no. 32).

  • From South of Holland:

from the direction Maastricht/Venlo: follow the A2/A67/E34 direction Amsterdam and keep driving in the direction of Amsterdam/Tilburg A2/E25, till the exit "Veldhoven Zuid" (A2 exit no. 32).

From A2 exit no. 32 follow the road in the direction of Veldhoven. Follow the signs "Koningshof", direction Steensel/Eersel; you will find Koningshof on your left-hand side just outside Veldhoven.
