Purpose and Method

The GRoningen MAgnification Test has been designed to assess within a short time the optimal magnification for fluent reading, taking into account visual acuity as well as contrast sensitivity. Currently necessary magnification is determined by trying various types of magnifiers for optimal reading.

Optimal magnification was determined as the lowest magnification at optimal reading speed while reading texts with different character size, using the prescribed low vision aid.

Results

Results of both methods have been compared with the optimal magnification. Valuable time can be saved if the results with the GROMAT are equal or superior to those obtained with the usual procedure.
