Gunther Bartiméus, Purpose and Results Within a population of 347 people with both visual and intellectual disabilities, a small group was detected, who obtain or process less visual information at distance than nearby. An intervention was conceived to enhance the visual world of these people, consisting of a video-camera with 4" (10.1 cm)- full colour LCD-monitor or a small television monitor. Research questions involved frequency of use of the camera, purposes of use, level of independence in use and the evaluation of the intervention by clients and caretakers. The research group consisted of 7 adults. The results show positive effects in the majority of the group. Conclusion It was concluded that the intervention could compensate for more reduced visual abilities on distance.
